Yay Ottawa Senators!! They won the first round of playoffs 4 games to 1 with a 3-0 shutout last night against the Pittsburg Penguins (Sidney Crosby - one of my sister's dogs is named after him, yup they're big hockey fans!)

They've been able to achieve this the last few years and usually don't make the second round. Here's hoping 2007 will be the year!!

I was so zonked last night after a busy busy week, all I could do was stay awake to see the game but I almost went under between periods! I didn't even turn on the laptop.

Today I'm working from home while I do laundry and I'm getting my hair done - colour and cut at 3:30. Double yay!!

The best part is I'm on a wee bit of a hiatus for the weekend. I won't be blogging because I'm going on a Marriage Encounter. By myself. LOL Not true. Read all about it on ICL Talks.

Kwizgiver wrote a post about that awful tagline for Always Maxi Pads:

Read her post above about how inappropriate and aggravating that is. It is printed on their boxes and on the back of the liner strip, believe it or not. Isn't that the last thing you want to see when you are preparing your granny undies for the dreaded bleed?

She got me thinking of some potential feminine hygiene taglines from hell. Wouldn't it serve all women better if this were printed on the adhesive backing strip?:

Clancy - my cat. I adopted him from someone at work. He was my first ginger tabby and he was a domestic short hair. He was a great cat. Orange cats tend to be very friendly. Did you know that? He got sick and died suddenly when he was only about 8 years old. I was devastated and it took me months before I was ready to replace him because I thought he was such a perfect cat.

I have no pictures because it was before the days of digital cameras and ~~I'm too lazy~~ I have no time to scan one in but he looked like this.

After just a few years of marriage filled with constant bickering, the Kerry couple decided the only way to save their marriage was to try counseling.

When they arrived at the counselor's office, the counselor jumped right in and opened the floor for discussion. "What seems to be the problem?"

Immediately, the husband held his long face down without anything to say. In contrast, the wife began talking 90 miles an hour, describing all the wrongs within their marriage.

After 15 minutes of listening to the wife, the counselor went over to her, picked her up by her shoulders, kissed her passionately and sat her back down.

Afterwards, the wife sat speechless. The marriage counselor looked over at the husband, who stared in disbelief. The counselor said to the husband,"Your wife NEEDS that at least twice a week!"

Just needed to get that out there.

He asked me Five Fabulous questions. No honestly, they were fabulous questions. He put a lot of thought into this for me and all the other gazillion people who asked to be interviewed.

Thanks, Fab. You're a real sweetheart, even if you do blog in your underwear and scare innocent children at the door. Here's the question~nes:

You live in Canada. Come on, it’s just you and me here. Deep down you guys really wish you were part of the United States, don’t you?

You have no few than eight blogs. If you could only keep one of them, which one would it be and why?

What would be your dream job?

You are proud of your Irish heritage. During the potato famine in the 1800’s millions of Irish immigrants came to America, but hardly any ended up in Idaho, which is where all the potatoes are. What’s up with that?

Me answers:

OK, Fab, since it's just you and me here, I'm going to be honest with you: No fuckin' way do we Canadians want to be part of the U.S. But on the other hand, if you had asked me to answer for the blogosphere, here's what I would have said: I think that there could be some economic and strategic advantages that would make Canada want to be part of the U.S., so it is something we would consider. (Which is really a typical diplomatic Canadian response that means: No fuckin' way do we Canadians want to be part of the U.S. )

I do? Really. No I don't have that many. Wait, let me count...........$hit I do. It doesn't really feel like that, but to answer your question, it will prolly be the one that I haven't created yet. See fabulous five below.

My dream job - good question. You didn't say that we were going to have to think about these questions. I was kinda hoping for multiple choice. Something like this:

Hmmmmm ... that's undeniably perturbing. I think all the Irish settled in New York though. I know that because I watched Gangs of New York. Have you seen that movie? You should. It's good, IMO. I think some ended up in Newfoundland, Canada too, but P.E.I. is the potato capital of Canada. Now I'm really bamboozled. I shoulda done my thesis on this. Wait, I never did a thesis. It doesn't matter anyways because potatoes kill. I'm committing suicide one french fry at a time.

Indeed who let the dogs out? Or as my sidebar says, who let the blogs out? When my dogs get out they're going to write "My pet blog". Not here, though dog knows I write about them enough. The one where they write themselves about whatever they feel like. That way I can live a dogs life vicariously through them.

They are still in 'hibernation' due to the climate conditions on the mountain.

There is no food yet available for them to eat.

Other grizzlies are still under a significant amount of snow.

They will be let out in a controlled manner, soon (I hope).

Unfortunately there's no sound on the Grizzly webcam but there is on the Africam one.

You will hear lots of night sounds and see some flying bugs (or maybe birds) depending on the time of day that you watch. Once I saw a big slithering snake go by that watering hole.

I love watching these sites. Sometimes it's hit or miss, there may or may not be a lot of action going on. I've put them on my side bar to remind me to go there more often.

UPDATE:

I'm feeling a little more stressed about these grizzlies, I've been watching them off and on all day and the really seem like they want to get out of this enclosure that they are in.

They keep going up to the window and looking out. I even saw one of them pushing on the window it seemed like. I feel sad now.

I hope that the people that are minding them know what they are doing and are not just exploiting these poor orphaned bears.

The story to go along with this photo is that Biker Boy (aka Pool Boy) will not be biking this summer.

He's going to get the bikes ready and hopefully bike a bit with me in the next few weeks but after that he's undergoing surgery for broken vertebrae in his back on May 7th.

They are pressing on his nerve and he's in constant pain and is pretty disabled right now, even though you probably would wonder how he could bike with this.

His main problem is standing and walking. That is mostly what causes him the most pain. This makes every day living pretty miserable for him.

Anyhoo, we are happy that something is finally being done for him. They are going to put in a titanium rod and screws to fuse everything together. He has a three month convalescense period. Hopefully in late August or September he may be able to ride a bit.

I, of course, will start my regular biking to work any day now if this weather would improve!

Great for the psyche, environment and pocketbook!

Carol at The Turning Point is one of my regular and must reads. She is such a sweet and thoughtful person, always quick with some kind words or a sassy remark. I just love her visits here and also to her blog to find out what bit of info she is going to enlighten me with or make me laugh about today. Imagine my excitement to be nominated by her, for a thinking blogger award! Two words come to mind, pink and tickled.

Without wasting a minute, I ran over to my other favourite read, Fleur de Lisa to let her know that she is my first choice for one of my five Thinking Blogger nominations. Lisa wraps her beautiful photography up in a bow with her introspective writing and fabulous quotes. I always like to stop and linger at her posts, like savouring a fine wine. There is much good there, and as much as she thinks she does not always bear her heart and soul, I've seen it. Many times. And I keep coming back for more.

Now where to begin? How to choose my remaining nominations, not friviously or haphazard? Thankfully, many of my favourite reads have been already nominated. That takes the pressure off to worry about offending someone that I might have to miss on this go 'round.

Make list ... check bloglines ... blog from the heart, Church Lady. Ready set go.

Next choice - very easy. LL Barkat of Seedlings in Stone is a very deep writer. She makes me think all the time. I always ensure my coffee is full before visiting her. It allows me to tarry around her blog, and try to figure out what hell she is saying. lmao She inspires me with her spirituality and abilty to rise above the blog eat blog world. Subtle but strong. I like that. And, she has a sharp but gentle sense of humour. Where would I be without my quick witted blog friends?

My blog friend Mysterious Lady has been busy, with getting married and a busy job as a nurse and all. She hasn't blogged a lot lately, but when she does, I always find some interesting information, points of view and perspectives coming from her. She has been known to be physically incapacitated and wacked out on pain killers and blogged photos of herself from her cell phone. What can I not help but think about that? LOL alot!

Oh dear, two left, spend 'em wisely.

My next choice is going to be a fairly new read that I have been introduced to via the Cyber Cruise which is currently out to sea. I have chosen him (my first male choice, yay!) because of his thoughtful narrative and work he puts into his posts blogging about the things of the world. I really appreciate his open perspective and fun loving style. Always up for some teasing while sharing his love of nature and all things he experiences. That my friends is Renny of RennyBA's Terella. He is always up for an adventure. Two feet first!!

OK, last but definitely not least, and in true thinking blogger fashion, my final nomination goes to someone that must put a lot of THINKING into her posts. Either that or she really is like that and her posts just roll off her fingers, without any thought what-so-ever! She is smart, quick witted, can be profane and vulgar and all things crazy and intermingled like you wouldn't believe. Her posts always make me smile or laugh out loud or hork. She is very popular and has a lot of readers, so needless to say, does not need this nomination to boost her esteem. We go back awhile but she still comes to visit the little people and leave sweet or witty remarks. I can like that. She is none other than MIST1 of To Do: 1. Get Hobby. 2. Floss. Play MISTy for me gf!

....in other news, Pool Boy is probably going to get his back operated on in three weeks! It's a 4-5 hour surgery, with one week in the hospital and three month rehabilitation period.

Get this, his surgeon is doctor for the Ottawa Senators hockey team, and he's on the road with them for the playoffs. Pool Boy will get the operation when he comes back off the road! Alright! We've been waiting for so long. He is anxious but relieved that now we are getting somewhere. Me too!

I'm so confused. Daughter #1 is home from Scotland tonight, past DQ boyfriend is over here now. She is all gaga about the Hot Scot! I haven't had a chance to talk to her without former bf around. I may have to give her a talkin' to. I'm feelin' sorry for DQ Boy.

Cool music tag from Christie over at ICL Video Blog. Alro's got the baton now and he's a real musician. Can't wait to see what he comes up with.

Hey what is the significance of Easter Monday anyways? Does anyone of y'all know?

Hope y'all had a great Easter weekend and are fresh like bunnies to start this new week!!

I've got a cute Easter Monday Manic Monday up. Lisa really does come up with the best questions for Manic Monday and sometimes I like to tease her when I play along. yuk yuk

While you're there and if you like the music on here for Easter, check out a really cool new song and video from Casting Crowns called "Who am I?". Just discovered this song and I love it!

So on to some personal stuff.

Big news! Mr. Philosopher has been nominated for an award at his college for programming (computer music). Last year he was nominated for his songwriting. He says he doesn't care if he wins or not but it's nice to have his music recognized and adds "I couldn't have done it without my crazy brain and my laptop, go computers!" A boy after me own heart! Oh, ya and he's moving in with his girlfriend at the end of the semester so looks like we may be taking a trip down to help him move soon.

'Course it's exam and term project time at all the colleges and universities so my kids and nephew are busy busy busy. Didn't make it home for Easter, although my daughter who is at a local university did manage to come for dinner at my sis's place last night, even if she did bring her books! Yay Nurse-a-baby!

#1 daughter is in Scotland and returning home tomorrow. She's been there a week with her friends. Her friend was dancing in the World competition for Irish dancing. Get this, she text messages us to say she's going on a date with a Hot Scot! lmao Not only one, but two dates occurred within this one week timeframe!!

Ah well, she's young and a busy lass! She got a promotion at work right before she left to go away! She takes possession of her first home on May 1st. Yup, the wiener will be moving out!!!Not straight away, because she has some work to do in the house first, but hopefully before the end of May! I need to get all the furniture that Dad gave her out of the garage!

I'll miss the doodle but not always sleeping in my bed like she has the past week thought she's really not much trouble because Pool Boy takes her out rofl!

Werked from home today (hey, maybe that's why I'm in such a good mood?) and managed to boogie off to the pit at lunch with my sis and our doggies. Didn't take any pics this time, but she did.

So I'm just wondering do I blog more about my kids or my pets? I don't like to brag too much about the kids because that's just boring for y'all but just so you know, they put.me.through.hell during the teenage years so when I do it's because I've earned my bragging rights he he.

And furthermore, I'm not out of the woods yet ~ notice no reference to Batgirl today? That's 'cause she's basically in her own little world these days and we've got some issues to clear up, nothing serious, I hope, but nothing to brag about there (yet) either! ho ho ho

So I might as well just finish off with Pool Boy who is going to see the back surgeon tomorrow, finally. Let's hope they do something quick! I can't take it anymore!!! Not sure how he's doin' ROFL.

I have a wee little surprise too that I will blog about soon about Pool Boy and me. Nothing big at all, but something positive anyways. I will be getting back to do some posts on ICL Talks to give a little update on the situ. I'm going to go back to venting on that blog and quit keeping things bottled up.

Famous last words! Wasn't it just last week I was saying that I was going to slow down on blogging and proceeded to post pretty much every day and twice on Sundays still!!!!???

OK so I may still have some issues.

Eostre found a wounded bird in the snow. To help the little bird survive the winter, she transformed it into a rabbit, but the transformation was incomplete and the rabbit retained the ability to lay eggs. The Meaning of Easter

I used to help prepare kids in our church for their confirmation. It was a joy to do. We had a lesson curriculum but I had fun trying to prepare fun things for them to do to learn the content of the lessons.

I made a game of Jeopardy on my laptop where I would give the answer and they had to think of what the question was. When I showed the slide with the answer there was a round of applause sound bite that would play. The kids seemed to enjoy that game because they asked for it the following week.

Sometimes though I would wonder if they were only doing their confirmation under duress, and they really didn't buy into the whole thing. Some would sit in my class with their arms crossed and I really had my doubts.

I only know of one little lamb that I lost along the way for sure, because I spoke to his mom about him. She was at her wits end and couldn't get him even to come to church.

There was one boy who was very quiet but polite and he sat at the back of the room. I didn't think he was particularly engaged but in retrospect I think he was just the observing kind.

After his confirmation he sent me an email and said that he really appreciated my confirmation classes and what I taught them. He said that if it wasn't for me he wouldn't be happy about doing his confirmation.

Well it just warmed my heart to hear that, especially when it was hard to get a read out of him in class, even though I did direct questions specifically to him. I wish I still had that email. It would do me good to read it again.

Anyways, I digress, the real intention of this post was to talk about a little lesson I gave them when I asked them the following question:

Which is the most important holiday in the Christian faith?
Then I would give them the following answers to choose from and I would count the number of kids who raised their hand for each answer (giving them time to think about it more while I did this)

Christmas
Shrove Tuesday
Ash Wednesday
Palm or Passion Sunday
Holy Thursday
Good Friday
Easter

Of course many chose Christmas and others chose Good Friday and some chose Shrove Tuesday thinking it was a trick question.

Then I asked them, "Why do we remember Jesus's birthday?" (Those that picked Christmas started getting all smug thinking they indeed had the right and obvious answer)

Then I asked them, "Would we even remember his birthday if he didn't die for our sins?" So now the people who picked Good Friday are thinking the picked the right answer.

Then I asked them, "What is so miraculous about his death?"

Then I would get the answer, excitedly "Because he rose from the dead!" BINGO!

That's when the ones who picked EASTER had their choice affirmed and they realized how now all that made sense.

Except some years I would get one smart one who still tried to argue with me that if he wasn't born he couldn't rise from the dead!!! LOL!

Barbara H. has a great Thursday Thirteen up this week quoting scholars about Jesus' resurrection and also listing the people who saw Jesus after he was resurrected.

I think Paul's (formerly Saul) accounts are most compelling since he was an absolute unbeliever of Jesus until he appeared to him.

It's all very hard to fathom. Sometimes the logical part of me looks at it all and says that I and all the believers must be real fruit cakes. I take comfort in knowing that some day I will come to know and understand the full story in the glory of the kingdom of God.

On bad days, that's good enough for me, on good days, it's completely awesome.

Trying to get over a yucchy head cold that I've had all week so I'm laying low today trying to recover. Read some of my book Whitethorn Woods by Maeve Binchy, read some blogs and played with some toys.

Kiddle Kolognes - Did anyone have these. The were scented little dolls that came in cologne shaped bottles. I had Lavendar (purple), Sweet Pea (white), Honeysuckle (yellow) and ?????? (the hair on her was bright green).

Can't say incense, because it's back with a vengeance! My youngest burns it all.the.time! So instead I will say pot pourri. Do people use this regularly? I have no idea. Whenever I have it smells good up close but does nothing to smell up a room or anything.

UFO's - ha ha ha heard a joke about this the other day. Ever notice that since the popularity of digital cameras and camcorders nobody sees UFO's anymore???

Looking forward to the mail delivery. No one sends letters anymore so what possibly could be exciting in the mail except bills. Blah!

Unions - it's not that nobody talks about them anymore, it's just that they don't have the same importance that they used to it seems. I awoke crying this morning from my dream.

I dreamt that my FIL had passed away. That wasn't what made me cry in the dream.

We were at my parents old house and moving furniture out. My Mum was there. I asked my husband if he told my Mum that Grandpa had passed away and he said he did not. How could he? She was dead.

I said no she's not she's right here at which point I motioned to her and he couldn't see her. Only I could. Only I could hear her. At that point I grabbed her arm and started leading her around the neighbourhood for a walk all the time balling my eyes out about nothing was the same since she was gone and how sad I was all the time. She just nodded and agreed with me. I just cried all the more and woke up sobbing. My husband even woke up and asked what was wrong.

Why couldn't she speak to me in my dream and tell me positive things to get me out of this sadness?

What's ironic is that when I started this post I intended to title it SADNESS but I typed SADMESS by mistake. It really is a sad mess which I want no part of and want to move on. I just don't seem to know how to or am able to bring myself to. Some days are better than others. This one appears to be one of the others.

Perhaps it's because it's Good Friday or because I watched Scrubs last night that she showed up in my dream. Those that saw Scrubs will understand.

So we have a couple of ducks that seem to be making a splash on the top of our pool cover. They came back two days in a row now.

The video is pretty quiet, at first, while my husband is filming them and then the male duck (the prettier one) starts playing hanky panky with the female, only she doesn't seem to want much part of it!

Get this, he thought they were Canada Geese!! Partway through my daughter comes to look and the conversation ensues, where he learns his bird species. (I told him later he needs to wear his glasses more!!).

He finally let Daisy out but she was too afraid to go down and the ducks didn't fly away. Lots of poop on the concrete pool deck though. Oh joy!

So you can see how dull and blah it is here still but at least the snow is gone!

How does your blog benefit you?
It's a way of documenting my legacy which otherwise I would not get around to doing. It's also a way to sort out some things going on in my life and in my head. Deep stuff. Mostly, I like to use humour. If it's funny in my head, that's good enough for me.

Does it make you happy?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. On the whole I think yes, but I'm really not sure yet. I've 'wasted' a lot of time blogging this past year. Not sure if I'm happier or less happier because of it.

Does it earn you friends and admirers?
Yes, I have met some dear friends.

Does it improve your writing?
I think it does. I now know that I enjoy writing, anyways.

Does it keep you up-to-date on news and technology?
Yes, I've learned a lot about html and lots of neat things on the internet. I've also learned a lot about other worldly events that I probably wouldn't have if I had not been blogging!

How does your blog benefit others?
I guess I'd have to ask my readers. I'd like to think it does but that would be too presumptuous of me. Internets? Your turn to talk....

Does it provide valuable information for free?
I do provide information here. It's free. Is it valuable? Again, refer to question above.

Does it speak for the speechless?
My blog, being a personal one is not about a cause or anything, so I'd have to answer no.

Does it make people think?
I hope some of my posts do. I like to share life's lessons in a humourous way. I also like to share my spirtuality in a non-confrontational manner. To each his own, I just want others to know that there is a way for them. All they have to do is ask.

Australia and Flying Doctors!

aka R'acquel has a great post up for the Cyber Cruise on the Leura and the Blue Mountains.

It got me thinking about my own family connection to Australia. Although I have never been, my oldest daughter has and here is some pictures from her trip below.

Other than that, I have a historical family connection with Australia on account of a first cousin who was married to an Australian Flying Doctor.

Her story is rather tragic, in that she died in a plane crash flying with him after being married only six weeks. Her name was Renee Burke, from Ireland. She died on October 22, 1953.

The pilot, Martin Garrett, died as well, though her husband, Dr. Timothy O'Leary, also from Ireland, survived. He went on to write two books, North and Aloft and Western Wings of Care about his experiences as a flying doctor.

Dr. O'Leary died in 1987 at 62 years of age. His focus was on doctoring in the outback, the isolated lands of inland Queensland and the Gulf country. As a member of the Royal Flying Doctor Service started by John Flynn.

Although an allure of a glamourous and exciting lifestyle made it easier to recruit new doctors, due to the remote and lonely living conditions, and sometimes dangerous situations associated with night flying, these recruits often did not stay on past twelve months. O'Leary did this for 27 years.

He spent his first five years at the Charters Towers post, which closed in 1972 (transferred to Cairns), and this is the basis for his first book, North and Aloft.

Thank you to Lori Harloe, of the Department of History & Politics, James Cook University of Nth. Qld for additional information I was not aware of from my own relatives.

As a child, I was very close to Renee's brother, my uncle Tony, who also had emigrated to Canada like me Mum. Although he lived with his family in another city, he would travel to Ottawa on business and I always anticipated his visits with great enthusiasm, as he always arrived with a bag full of chocolate bars while he and my parents stayed up all night, in typical Irish fashion.

Sadly he has passed on, and his wife. For a time we had stayed in contact. I met my second cousins, in fact my daughter is named after one of his children, Séana, and my niece shares the name with another daughter, Tara. His eldest, is named after his sister, Renee.

Thanks, Racquel, for helping me to dredge up this part of my story, which is really what this blog is all about, documenting my legacy. And thanks to you internets, who have made it down this post thus far!! LOL

Ya, right. I think I'm pretty hooked. I don't think I could stop blogging. But, just in case you're wondering, I am going to cut back a bit, prolly not post every day like I have been.

The weather is getting nice out. I have lots to do around the homefront and I think it's better that I concentrate my energies there than into something I enjoy. LOL

If I do anything heroic, stupid, entertaining or otherwise during this concentration of my energies, (there may be plenty of opportunities, folks!), I will be back here later to blog about it.

Having a loverly day at Chesapeake Beach, Maryland with Melli and all her friends! Of course, I'm on the Cyber Cruise with Cap'n Mrs Lifecruiser. She's a blast! Hey if you're looking for someone fun to hang out with, she's your man ... ah ... er ... I'm mean lady.

Hey you don't have to be a regular cruiser to spend the day with us at any port. Just comment away, once, twice, many times and tell us what you're up to while you tour that port. Show us what you bought on your blog! Share similar experiences. The more the merrier!

It look's like this Cyber Cruisin' may be around to stay for awhile so hop on board. More details below.

Rant follows ....

So I picked up this great T-shirt in Maryland, after I stuffed myself with crab, because I felt it would only be fair that I should wear this T-shirt on certain days for fair warning.

Some days (like some days this week!) I feel so angry like I could tear a strip off someone. I know it's only the hormones but it feels like it comes so frequently now and so intense. I don't like feeling this way (oh ya, who does?).

I can't like clock out of work for a week every month (ya my fuse has been really short with some people this week but I managed to keep it under control) and shut down my blog and ignore my family so that I don't have to deal with any one for these days. OK I was just kidding about the blog part. LOL No, but I mean I get really sensitive sometimes and I need to just chill out.

Like I'll use an example of my dear dear friend Gattina. Yesterday she posted about today's Cyber Cruise port and the previous day's Cyber Cruise port but forgot to mention mine, which was yesterday. (Thanks for the visits y'all BTW!) It was an honest mistake. I had signed up for that port late. She had pulled the schedule down onto her laptop earlier, before I had been added.

Of course I pointed it out to her and she promptly apologized and corrected, such a sweet thing! But here I was thinking it was a slight against me? Am I on crackers?

Here's another werk example, I send an email asking for clarification on something, I get a response back with a long winded answer with more info than I asked for and no direct answer to my question. Please, just answer the feckin' question people!!

Will it take more time or not with this additional scope and if so how much? Don't tell me that well you're going to do this, and then you're going to do that and then you're going to pick your nose ... and? So is all of this nose picking and dis and dat included in your original estimate or what? I can't read minds!! Hellllllloooooooo!

Nor do I care that you are planning to pick your nose after you dis it and dat it! All I want to know as project manager is did you screw up your first estimate and now we need to alter course (so to speak Cap'n heee) or can dis and dat and nose picks be absorbed by your first estimate. Don't try to hide behind how complicated it is.

If you did your freakin' homework up front and researched it a little more you would have known how complicated it was when you did your first low a$$ ball estimate. That's called accountability, nerd face. Now you expect me to flower it all up for you because you missed the boat (heeee! see I can still laugh with these cruise references!)

OK, a legitimate scope change requested by the customer, I'm right behind you buddy and will back yer a$$ up all the way to Chesapeake Bay. I'll friggin' document it and get it signed off and your little wee hiny will be smelling so sweet we will all want to kiss it and mine too! ah ... er .. well never mind.

All of the above was said about a person who I have great respect for. So why am I all whiney a$$ about this person because I am so hormonal or fucked up. (Hey, did you notice I used all of the other slang terms for the F word before now in this post and now only have to resort to using the actual word because, well frankly, we're talking about me here, and this is the only word that fits!!)

I won't even go into the family side of things, well because, that's just too cruel, on my part. It's is them, not me. But my hormonal imbalance probably doesn't help the situation. 'nuff said.

Plus, I like cry at the drop of Melli's hat (LOL, couldn't resist Mel), for anything sentimental or sad. Sheeesssh! I cry at church for dog's sake, because the readings or homily touches me. It's so embarrassing. Oh and of course, in church (well not just church), we pray for others and ourselves and our families and while I am doing that before mass starts, I'm start to tear up! I can't take it anymore!!!!

I just want to laugh and have fun and do fun things! All advices and empathies graciously accepted. You can even use the F word and tell me to suck it up!

Cruise Port Day 8 ~ Cyber Cruise

OTTAWA, CANADA

Well since my last attempt at a visit we were taken over by pirates on the ~~booze crooze~~ Cyber Cruise, I now am finally glad to be able to show you my home town, Ottawa, Canada.

Where the heck is Ottawa you ask? Well to get your bearings, click here. Can you see Ottawa? hint, it's in what is known as central Canada. North of New York between Toronto and Montreal. You found it! Good for you! Now I'm going to tell you all that's good about Ottawa, with a little dirt thrown in for good measure, or I'm not Irish Church Lady!

Ottawa is the Capital City of Canada and used to be called Bytown, because it was significantly influenced by Colonel John By when he built the Rideau Canal in 1832. Originally it was home to the Algonquin First Nations Peoples (pssst, we don't say Indian anymore, as a sign of respect, it is not politically correct) and was known as Kichi Sibi or Kichissippi, meaning "Great River". It soon became a booming log town due to the rivers accessibility, now known as the Ottawa River.

Please click here to see a live webcam of our Houses of Parliament (government) and you will know what kind of weather I am having here today! At the right is a picture of the Prime Minister's residence which is currently occupied by Stephen Harper, whom I think, I might add, is doing a marvelous job! (You didn't expect NOT to get editorial comments from the Church Lady did ya? I might get some flack for that one. Bite me!)

Ottawa is not as big a city as Toronto, or Montreal of Vancouver so it often gets forgotten that it is the Capital of Canada. Although at 1.2 million population, we are the fourth largest city in Canada. It is said that "with the highest-educated workforce in Canada, Ottawa has more engineers, scientists and PhDs per capita than any other city in the country." Woot!

It is a beautiful city, full of lots of protected parkland space and lots of activities to do. I would rather not live in any other city in Canada.

In the winter the Rideau Canal is frozen (almost!) solid and becomes the world's longest skating rink and is a popular tourist destination for our winter carnival known as Winterlude. (This is one way we try to make our winter here more bearable!) Have you ever heard of eating beaver tails? Well we do that here, except they are the cinnamon-sugar kind!!

The National War Memorial became a bit of a controversy last summer when on CANADA DAY, a drunken youth peed (is that how you spell that? maybe I should say pissed?) on the memorial which contains the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (shown right at the base of the war memorial).
Buried in here are the actual remains of a soldier, unknown in name or rank or face, who died in WWI in France. The repatriation of his remains only happened this century, in May 2000. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was created to honour the more than 116,000 Canadians who sacrificed their lives in the cause of peace and freedom.

Notice how the inscription on the tomb is in English and French? We are a bilingual country. The Official Languages Act was implemented in 1988. All federal institutions are obligated to operate in both languages and as a result, Ottawa is a fairly bilingual city. Mais pas moi, je parle seulement un peu du Français, mais j'essaye ! Mon epouse est francophone et mes enfants parlent français aux niveaux variables. (Not me though. I speak only a little bit of French, but I do try! My spouse is Francophone and my children speak French at varying levels.) [Hey, I actually wrote that first and then did a google translate and I did not too bad! I think I am better at writing French than speaking it. My kids couldn't understand when they were young and I used to review their homework and notice spelling mistakes. They'd say to me "Hey, how come you can't speak French but you can spell in French?!! LOL] I digress. :)

Ottawa is known for it's Canadian Tulip Festival held every spring as well. The tulip bulbs planted originate from a gift from Queen Juliana of the Netherlands. During WWII, Queen Juliana took refuge here with her two girls. (Actually Princess Margriet was born in Ottawa) To thank Canada for their hospitality and for their role in liberating Holland, she gave the City a gift of 100,0o0 tulip bulbs.

In Ottawa, on Canada Day (what we call Canada's birthday - July 1), there is a big party downtown at Parliament Hill with fireworks and lots of flags! You see we Canadians are very proud of our flag not only because it is so unique and pretty, but it only became our flag in 1965 when Canada was only 98 years old. Before that we flew a flag containing the British Flag, the Union Jack ~ see all of Canada's past flags here, even before we were an independent country, including one containing the Fleur de Lis.

OK so if you read my blog regularly you probably know that this last week has been all about the Cyber Cruise that we're on. So I just thought that if you were getting sick of reading about it I would sadly disappoint you now because I'm still gonna blog about it today!!!

It has been really fun! Much more than I had expected! So if you're an outsider looking in, get on board. We're all about goofing around and saying silly things and being a little horny or raunchy but all in the name of good clean fun! So before we continue with CC~TT, please complete the CC poll:

I'm getting a lot of laughs on this cruise, especially from mon Capitaine Lifecruiser. She is a riot! Of course without mentioning other names for fear of forgetting anyone I will say that (cough) the hat lady gives us all a run for our money, not to mention the (cough, cough) shoe lady, then there's the viking twins (hoo hoo & ha ha), and spanish esmarelda and maridoggybeth. Ohh, ohhh and I didn't forget you, cattinoyergats! You guys show great spirit in the most senseless manner, and I mean that in a very endearing way!

I'm really seeing and learning about some really awesome cities and interesting facts and tidbits about these places, right from the horses mouth!

The food and drink in port is awesome too! And since it's virtual, no calories! (We're not counting the beer I had when I was reading the blogs the other night are we???)

So when I did my first port posting (Tuesday), the preview of the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie was not working but I think it is now. It looks like another fine one to wrap up the tale. Aye, mateys.

Ah yes and we all had entirely too much fun talking like pirates that day. I can't wait until September 19 which is TAPD (Talk Like A Pirate Day). I am going to really get into it this year! Aye ye scalliwags and sea dogs, of that ye can be sure!

I wish I could learn to make these cute buttons like this cute little Berliner Bear that Sanni made for us. Isn't she special? I'm calling him Irving even though I'm not sure if he is a boy or a girl. I survived eating the currywurst in Berlin and it was yum!
The neat thing about visiting with all the bloggers from different parts of the world is that it reminds me of how much we are all the same. Separated by miles, water and moulah only, but joined by the spirit of adventure, fun, and heartfelt kindness. That we are!
Ya so because I still have to swab the poop deck during the day (aka pillage for gold Arrrrr!), and then I go to visit the Cyber Cruisers first at night I am a little behind on my bloglines and I apologize wholeheartedly for that. I have not forgotten you all non cruisers and will be back to catch up! On that you can be certain!

Michael says (about Andy): I can't understand how someone can be so out of touch with his outer self. (or something like that ~ now isn't that the pot calling the kettle black!)

Jim and Pam retaliate by hiding his cell phone in the ceiling.

Andy gets so mad and punches a wall.

Dwight is hired back, but refuses to handle Michaels dry cleaning any longer.

Andy Bernard is gone to Anger Management classes for 10 weeks as requested by Corporate.

Ahh ha ha ... I spoke too soon .... rubbing in my good fortune by bragging about my performance review.

My blog review at So Many Blogs, So Little Time .... ah, numberwise, ain't so hot at 40%ish.

However, she loved the blog header (Thanks all go to Goofy Girl!). Hated the sidebar, but then they usually do in these reviews unless the sidebar is so short it's almost empty. I don't love my sidebar but I love the blog grouping headers. They're funny in my head. And ya, I don't read 'em all anymore, but I did read all of them at some time or another. It is time to thin the herd, though, I acknowledge.

Content - she wants more personal writing. As my regular readers know, I do that here some days but also on ICL Talks and maybe a little bit sprinkled in the memes on About ICL.

I guess one of the reasons I like to vary it up here is because I get bored of reading the blogs that are just personal blogs and always about that person or their kids yada yada yada. Just my preference, so if I don't like that as much, I'm certainly not going to turn around and blog that way. Having said that, I haven't had that many personal posts lately because (a) it's a little too painful and (b) what I have said is on ICL Talks.

Tell me ~ how do you feel? What are your preferences? Not that I necessarily will change anything drastically, because, as they say, this blog is for me... but I am curious to know other bloggers opinions. Aren't I always? Monkey survey queen speaking here.

I think the best thing I got out of the review is that Sexy Simone said "You have a good writing style, try using it for good :)". That is really what I wanted to hear. I enjoy writing and I like my writing style. It's just nice to hear when others appreciate it too!

Dead People Not Allowed to Enter Here

Pam found me some great information on the castle in my last post. It's called Lemenagh Castle (albeit there's a number of different spellings for Leimaneh) and is located in County Clare near the town of Kilfenora. Here's another picture and a funny story to go with it. Well at least I think it's funny and typically Irish!

The castle was owned by the O'Brien clan and saw varied usage and owners. At one
point it was owned by Conor O’Brien who was married to Maura Rua or Red Mary. He returned from battle in a state of extreme disrepair, she refuse him admittance
on the grounds that he was dead. Disproving this assumption, he was allowed in and subsequently died shortly thereafter. Red Mary remarried to improve her position, but all was for naught as thing rapidly fell apart leaving the castle in the current state of decomposition.

See ICL SNAPS for my picture for ADDICTION submitted for Photo Friday. No it's not a picture of me blogging!!! Actually I had a fair number of drinking pictures, a couple that were really good that I would have liked to submit but they were of werk associates, so I decided against it.

So what else is happening .... ?

I will share with you some werk related good news. I got an 'Outstanding' on my performance review. My first one at this company. I usually get 'Exceeds Expectations' which I am always very happy with, but ya, I did have a good year last year. Really helped that I knocked off all but one objective in a big way, helping the organization achieve theirs handily. Oh and they don't hand out the good reviews willy-nilly, they follow a bell curve. I'm happy to be recognized. Otherwise I'd be pissed. hee hee

THE OFFICE was a rerun last night - the last two weeks have been re-runs. BOO HISS!

American Idol - ho hum, yawn ... there's a few good ones but I'm not really into it this year, probably because so many of them suck!!! I didn't even watch the results last night. Who got kicked off? Please tell me if you know and describe them too, cause I don't know their names.

'kay so I will quit boring you 'cause I'm boring myself with this post.

My sister got a new puppy named Crosby. Well guess who now has joined their family as well? Crosby's sister, Winnie.

Turns out that Winnie is not as hyper-allergenic as they hoped. Her Dad had bad allergies so they were looking for a home for her and my sister scooped her up. What's one more puppy, right?

Different hair textures, colours and personalities, but two beautiful dogs.

I caught a portion of a radio interview this morning of Suzanne Somers with one of our local morning radio hosts.

Her latest thing is promoting the benefits of 'Bioidentical' hormone replacements. She maintains that while it's unclear if they will shorten her life at all due to hormone replacement therapy risks, she says it's quality of life that is important to her.

As I enter my perimenopausal years, I often wonder if I would be better off with hormone replacements, bioidentical or not. I'm just starting to research into it further.

I'm interested to know the thoughts and experiences of my readers.

What's up Flossie?

I'm not a fan of blog ads or PPP and stuff like that. I think I've made myself clear on that point before.

I do, however, like to endorse something that I think is great.

A little bit of background. My teeth are very tight. I don't mean they're stingy, because well, ... how could that be? What I mean is they are crowded. Consequently I never liked to floss. That dang floss was always getting shredded and sometimes even stuck in my teeth. Now what good is that? An inviting breeding ground for bacteria for sure.

Ya so every trip to the dental office I would think am I gonna lie or am I gonna tell the truth about how much I floss? As I'm lying in the chair and they're probing my gums and blood is swirling around my mouth I change my mind a few times about how I'm gonna answer the dentist or hygenist's question "So how often are you flossing?"

"Not as much as I should" is usually my standard answer, but that was getting kind of lame. I also managed to get away with "A few times a week" a few times, or at least I thought I got away with it. They were probably chuckling under their face masks, "Ah-ha-ha, these gums haven't seen the backside of dental floss since the last time her butt was in this chair."

My most recent response was pure genius I thought. "Well I start off really good after my checkup and it kind of peters off to only a few times a week". Lie! LIE! LIE!! Their beady little eyes peering over the attractive monkey masks say to me.

Anyways, over 6 months ago, my hygenist, Laurie (she's also my neighbour but we don't see each other much so she does kinda just feel like my hygenist) recommended that I try the Reach Access dental floss tool and she gave me a free one to take home. Even better than that was the advice she gave to go with it. She said to dip it in mouthwash and floss.

So I gave it a try, because I really like Laurie, but I figured this too shall pass. I also changed my routine and started flossing in the morning after I brush. At night I was always too tired. One more thing to do after brushing was just more than my tired eyes and body could take. When you do it in the morning, it makes sense because you're dipping it in the minty mouthwash and your teeth feel all clean and fresh. I run the Reach flosser under the tap every once in a while, do another dip and floss some more. I rinse my mouth with the remaining mouth wash and am fresh as a whistle.

So if you're reading this still it must mean that I care for you and the feeling is mutual, otherwise why would you stick it out this far? So did you know that gum disease is a serious cause of shortening your lifespan? So since I love you and all, and if you're not a good regular flosser like MIST1, then I would really like you to try out this product and process.

I've been flossing regular at least 5 times a week with this and that is waaaaaay better than before. Laurie was so proud!!

Her blog is about her life and it's called The Life of Riley. Only her name is Olive, but goes by Ollie.

Ollie blogs about her past, sharing stories about her sons, the present and local happenings in Australia where she's from. She includes pictures for any of you photo buffs.

She uses a wheelchair, but that doesn't seem to stop her. Oh, but she does have the help of Mike, to write her blog, except she calls it her blob. She especially likes to tell her stories and hear back comments from around the world. Mike thinks it is a good project for her, because it keeps her mind active.

So go check her out and give her some good attitude.

Great movie. Sucks that it is based on real life events.

The doctor character, Dr. Nicholas Garrigan, is fictional, but loosely based on Englishman Bob Astles, who was one of Amin's aids from 1975, but was previously associated with Milton Obote, the previous leader who was overthrown in 1971.

Amin's love for things Scottish, is based on fact. You will see movie clips of marching Scottish bands in Uganda in the following great site . There is a timeline that gives you the historical timeline of Idi Amin and Uganda, with original footage and photos interspersed with some movie clips and photos.

Forest Whitaker, of course, won the best actor Academy Award and a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Idi Amin in the film.

Not much happening ... converted my About ICL blog to the new blogger template (Thanks Goofy Girl!), played my photo challenges (Saturday Photo Hunt~Salty, and Friday Photo ~ Alone), posted on 2000K bloggers about JasChocolate, played Stacy's Trivia (I won today 10/10), put a link to the full Fergalicious Video on me video blog (it was stopping part way through - overuse I guess - it's really popular) and getting caught up on bloglines. Sheessh! I guess that is a lot.

So I decided to do an interview of a fellow 2K blogger. Read all about my extremely scientific and dorky way of choosing my interviewee here.

Well she responded within a day and answered all my questions with such eloquence and aplomb (better www.dictionary that, is it even a word?) that I kind of wish I would have asked her the following questions:

Have you ever blogged in the nude?

Do you suffer from belly button lint?

The blogger I would most like to see dead is:

What comes first, your blog or your cleaning your toilet?

I kinda felt that if I just introduced with these questions she'd say, who is this nut job? So I like to warm up slowly. Actually from reading her blog, I think she would approve of the above questions.

Here's some other interesting factoids about her:

She's from Singapore ~ Yay, I was there, I was there!

She loves chocolate! No kidding!

She thinks shes crappy ~ but she's not.

She likes to run. ~ a fellow runner!

Hmmmmm.... I think she has some things in common with yours truly.

So without further adieu here is Jas' responses (with my editorial comments thrown in, (in italics) for good measure):

Why did you start blogging?
- To keep a record of what I did, where i went to because my memory is quite bad. Actually, the main reason was that I was bored in my classes and writing a blog makes time passes faster. But I think my tutors will want to cry if they know that they are that boring. Make 'em cry Jasy!~

How do you describe your blog?
- Bascially a record of what i like, eat and do.. so it is quite messy at times. It's like a "rojak", a dish we had in Singapore. A mix of various items but with a unique taste of its own. Some will like it, but some wont. Oh I tried squid when I was in Singapore but it was from a fast food kiosk (I think it was on that Island, what's the name?) and it was awful (to me anyways). I think it was overcooked because it was awfully rubbery. I will try squid again but only from a quality restaurant. hee

How has your blog changed over time?
- Bascially, it is still the same but I had less time to blog now.. So if I can, I will rather blog using pictures more than to type with words. Most of the times, I cannot find the right words to blog about how I feel. Yeah sometimes you feel restricted so I know what you mean. I don't feel like I can blog about work, even though I would like to rant about it sometimes. I also feel that some things are just a little too personal to blog about. Aw what am I saying? I blog about almost everything. It's just that some things that are buried deep inside or cause me angst and if I blog about them, I don't want just anyone reading it. So I've started a new separate blog called ICL Talks where I can blab about what's bothering me. My family doesn't read my blog so I feel quite safe putting it out there (even though I begged them to read it for months!! I finally gave up. Hmmmppffff! I'll fix them he he).

Do you have any other blogs?
- I had other blogs, mainly signed up as I wanted to use the account to leave comments in other blogs. My main focus is still on the one in blogspot. Though, I may shift it to wordpress once I had the time. I know alot of people have switched to WordPress but I can honestly say that I like Blogger. I don't have any good reason to switch. The only niggly thing that bugs me with new Blogger is that it never remembers your id and you have to log in every time. Arggghh!

Do your family and friends blog, too?
- My friends blogged, not my family though. In fact, I was introduced to it when I saw my friends blogging in school. However, most of them do not really updated their blogs now that they started working. However. I did make some friends through reading blogs. I don't know anyone in real life that blogs. Isn't that weird? I've told my friends about it, my family, some close co-workers but no body reads my blog from my real life. I do feel that some of the bloggers I've met are quite nice and would love to meet them irl if I ever get the chance!

What are your favorite blogs? Who do you read?
- Most of the blogs I read are on my links. One of my favourite is Jaywalk, because he is quite funny and serious at times. The topics he covered are of a wide variety. I will check this Mr. Jaywalk out. I have so many favourites (hey, you guys in Singapore spell favourite the same way as us Canadians! very kool!). I save them in Blogrolling by different blogrolls to organize them into categories, but I actually read them via Bloglines. I have too many ... way too many blogs rolled, I know ... but I find it really hard to take them off my blogroll. To do blog time management I usually just stop reading them for awhile and then eventually I remove them from my blogroll/bloglines. My criteria for this is usually that I just don't find we have so much in common, or that they're not particularly funny (a big requirement for me to enjoy blogging), or maybe just even they're too popular (I prefer to find some gems and lesser known blogs), um lastly, sometimes I don't like blogs that have posts that are too long. I usually try to keep mine short (this one is becoming one of the exceptions) because I know I have this preference.

Have you ever thought of quitting blogging?
- I think. There was a period i stopped blogging but then the itch came back and i need to blog. :p I hear ya gf!!

What keeps you blogging?
- Myself and what little readers I had.. Haha :) You are a real gem, aren't you? he he

So using a random number generator it came back with #445. So I go over to the 2000 Bloggers Montage to find the 445th blogger. There are 12 pictures in a row, but the first cell in the first row is a '?' so we have to add one. So let's see, 445 divided by 12 equals 37 so I need to look for a picture in the 38th row. 12 times 37 = 444 , plus 1 = 445, bingo but I have to add one for the '?' so I'm looking for the 2nd picture in that row. Yes, I opened my excel to do this but the hardest part was counting down 38 rows in the montage. I'm such a dork!

Fergus Last Sunday at the Dog Park

Fergus, my puppy, had not been to the pit (aka dog run free park) in awhile. We cannot say the word "Pit" in our household unless we are getting our coats on to head out in the car to get there. We can't even spell it. P-I-T. He knows that too. We now say "T-I-P backwards" in our house if we are discussing a venture there. (Don't ask me why we don't say "TIP Backwards" - it must be because we went from PIT, to P-I-T, then to T-I-P backwards, we skipped by TIP Backwards, but because the word 'backwards' is in there, once he learns that, it will be unusable anyways. We will have to start calling it THE Gargoyle or something.

Oh yeah, and he did try to hump a few dogs. He's fixed but he tries to show his dominance by doing this. I thought because he hadn't been for awhile (months) that he would be more submissive. Thursday Thirteen #81, my #31

Wow! Last Thursday Thirteen. I feel compelled now to make it a good one.

Last week I commented when I submitted my TT that I would probably not be playing anymore because I really don't have time to visit that many people.

It kind of made me sad, because I really like doing TT, so I was kind of thinking that I would still do it from time to time, but just have my name taken off the blogroll.

Then I just happened to read on one of my regular reads this morning that TT is no longer going to be running. Shocker-roo~!

So I didn't really have anything planned for my TT (sometimes before I used to have 2 or 3 written and in the hopper on save mode!) so I think I'll just write random thoughts about blogging and memes and whatever else pops into my head.

It seems like Thursday Thirteen is a victim of it's own success. It is very popular, probably too popular. People can't keep up with visiting so many people each week. Otherwise you end up with comments that look like this. "Nice 13". "#8, that happened to me too." "Cool list. Happy TT!".
I still think that people could informally play TT each week if they want without being on a blogroll. I don't know if there's any rules that say you can't do that.
TT was a great way to meet new people when getting into the blogging world. For me it has definitely served it's purpose, but more than that, it sometimes helped to write a focused post about one topic, by elaborating on 13 things about that topic.
The cute header buttons that people used to create were so cool. Now what am I going to do with all those I downloaded but never used yet?!! LOL
The thing I liked about TT is that it could be on any topic. This gave way to a wide range of areas that could be covered and allowed the TT to not be very restrictive, contrary to other memes / tags that ask specific questions, although I do like those too! :)
If people commented on the TT site and gave a flavour about what their topic was on that week, it would at least give you an idea if you were sort of interested or not and could choose to visit (or not).
Even random TT's were highly entertaining, because they would spawn off in all directions. I even wrote a few myself!
Uh oh. I seem to be running out of things to say about Thursday Thirteen, I may need to move into random mode now, but please do leave your comments about TT.
So yesterday I blogged about how I helped to move my Dad into an apartment from his family home. I am so stiff and sore today from cleaning up the house. I also now realize that I was terribly dehydrated last night. This is because I literally cried almost all afternoon while I cleaned the house.
So much of Mum in there. I am glad that my Dad is now in a new place. He needs a fresh start. I need a fresh start.
He was actually incredibly organized with his packing. He had all the boxes well labelled and numbered. The movers were very good. They set up all the big stuff and put all of the boxes into the appropriate rooms as labelled. Dad said to unpack the high numbered boxes first, because those were the most needed items that were packed last.
Well, I didn't get too many of those unpacked, because by the time I got over to the apartment from the old house it was about 4 p.m. I did manage to get shelf paper in all his cupboards. He can take his time to unpack. I'm sure that he's just glad that this stressful part is now over.
I will take pictures when I get over there next. It is a beautiful apartment in a new complex. He's on the 15th floor with great views. The paint colours are very nice and muted and they actually go with his furniture which is kind of flowery but help to give the apartment more of a masculine feel.

A big thank you to Leanne Wildermuth for 'inventing' and running Thursday Thirteen. I've been getting such lovely visitors and really funny comments so I just wanted to reach out and thank you guys who read here and then leave me a note that makes me smile.

Those of you who leave me notes that make me worried or mad, now you can just mosy on outta here, 'kay.

Naw... I don't get anyone like that. I was just imagining that I did. hee

I know some bloggers make it a habit of answering back each comment. I do it once in a while, but very infrequently. I guess it's just not my style. Not that I don't like it on other blogs. I always go back and see what they told me. I don't have time to read what they told everyone else though (yikes!).

Ya, I guess you just gotta find your groove and what works for you. If I'm gonna spend some time writing comments back, I'd rather do it on their blog. I like to write meaningful comments, if I can, otherwise I prefer to leave nothing at all. Sometimes a quick one liner is apropo for the situ, especially if I'm a regular reader and commenter on their blog.

Frig, sometimes I've left comments so bloody long they could be one of my own posts here! LMAO (I think I did that once - copied it and turned it into a blog post for here one day he he).

Anyways I'm rambling. The point I wanted to make is that your sincere and genuine and lovingly written comments are most welcome and appreciated and I just wanted to let you know that you're doing an awesome job.

I've shortened my sidebar (I know it's still way the hell long) and set up links to my other blogs across the top. You know, just some regular housekeeping. Gotta get ready for those two blog reviews that are coming up soon. ha ha ha

Pool Boy just took 279 wine bottles and 3 empty cases of beer back to the BEER Store for refund. They just started a new recycling program here where you get $0.20 back for each wine bottle. We used to make our own wine and since then he just kept saving all the bottles downstairs. Way too much! I was after him to throw them out a long time ago but he never got to it. Then he heard about the recycling program and decided to wait. That was before Christmas. I wonder how many bottles we added to the collection over the holidays?

I can't believe I'm already at number eight. This isn't as hard as I thought or maybe you've stopped reading by now. Uh oh, I feel some performance anxiety coming on. Yes, I am that insecure. Confident but insecure.
I've seen this new Dorito commercial (based on India) tonight about ~~five six~~ seven times. It's not that funny. I can't find anything about it on You Tube but I did find this fun video about Amazing India Traffic.

I think that there is a finite number of categories that depict what people look like. Everyone is just a variation within that category. I haven't determined how many types there are but I'm thinking maybe 64. Have you ever noticed how a person sometimes looks generally like some one else you know? See? My point, exactly.

Thinking I may take a break from blog world for a bit. It's becoming a bit too routine, and sometimes a bit of a chore.
I spend way too much of my time at this here computer.
Not to say that I don't lurve very much all the cool blogger friends I have met and love to know all that's going on.
Let me re-emphasize that last point!!!!
Maybe I just need to cut back on my bloglines a bit.
Had a nice low key Valentine's Day. Hubby made some nice cheese canneloni with a rose sauce and salad. It was delish!
Even though our winter started late, it has suddenly become really old fast, with all the cold weather and now more snow we're getting.
How I wish I was able to go on a winter holiday to somewhere warm - just for a week.
My sis is going to St. Martin next week. My running partner is going to Cuba next week. A tad envious here.
I hope it doesn't snow and isn't too cold when we need to move my Dad out of his house next Wednesday. I've taken the day off work to help with that.
My daughter has been taking Dexedrine for about two weeks now to help her with ADD. She says it helps her stay awake at school. I think she is able to focus a bit more in the evenings with homework. Waiting to see some marks come in next. Holy heck, her pupils are really big though when she is taking this stuff!!
I've started a new blog, ICL Talks, just to ramble on about $hiT. I've yet to use it ~ much. Spending too much time reading other blogs. LOL!

Manic Monday - Mr Sandman

It's kind of funny that I missed doing Manic Monday yesterday because I went to bed soon after I got home from work. I was soooooo tired. TMI, it was my first day of my 'p' and it wipes me out.

Do you have a regular bedtime routine that helps you get to sleep?

Yes, I fall over. Wait, that's not true, sometimes I get into bed first. Unless I fall asleep on the lazyboy first, which is then a real chore to get up from and brush my teeth. I am immediately back to sleep after that. Sometimes I think I do that when half asleep.

I guess watching or listening to the TV relaxes me and puts me to sleep.

On average, how many hours of sleep do you get each night?
7 but I really could do with 8.

How many hours do you actually require and/or like to have?

How do you deal with insomnia?
I get up and work or blog. Usually I have insomnia because something is bothering me about the amount of work I have to do so I just get on with it. If it is a personal stress then blogging takes my mind off it. I usually have the TV on in the background.

A few things ... first the finalists for the Share the Love Blog Awards are posted and ready for final voting. Not sure what the close date is so better do it now. Cousin Crosby

It's a little dark in some spots but here's a video of new cousin Crosby who came over to visit his cousins, Fergus and Daisy, for doggy socialization time yesterday. It was hard to keep up with the little critters tearing around the kitchen. Check out the cat on the chair taking all of the action in. Also the Fergmeister peeping in from outside ~ we put him out for a bit so just the two small dogs could play.

They had met before on Monday night at my sister's place but this was first time on our home turf.

Fergus (he's so smart) already knows Crosby's name.

I crashed last night after what felt like a long week.

Didn't get my SPF up below until this morning, ya I cheated.

So since I fell asleep so early, I awoke early this morning but dozed off and on. I had bizarramundo dreams.

A family of cartoon bears were in them. The Dad kinda looked like Smokey the Bear. His family was there too. Except they all had clothes on kinda like the Berenstain Bears family. I wonder if I dreamt about this because I was reading a french version of the Mercer Mayers Critters kid's book , Scout Camp at the Chiro's office this week.

I actually understood it and had a great idea that maybe I could finally learn French if I just stuck to kids books.

Anyways there was other stuff in there about not getting accepted for graduate school (I'm not even trying to do this so where this came from I have no idea) because I was raped as a child (not true but I was molested) and because I forged my signature on something (not true ~ BTW how do you forge your own signature? LOL) so in the dream I was all in a huff about "how could they?" but I was also thinking about finally learning to windsurf and it was cool because the Smokey the Bear family had a nice sandy beach you could take off from. Oh joy, what the heck do these dreams mean or are they purely just for my brain's enjoyment while I whack off some sleep for the old bod???

We have something in Canada wear they encourage you to wear red on Friday to support our troops in Afghanistan. I usually do, resulting in a diminishing Friday wardrobe. TG it's casual Friday's as well.

I saw some footage from an interview on Entertainment Tonight tonight from last week and I thought she looked kind of rough.

It's definitely kind of strange, her grown son dying a few months ago and now her dying suddenly as well. New husband is a lawyer. Was there a prenuptual? Looking awfully suspicious.
