Great movie. Sucks that it is based on real life events.
Amin's love for things Scottish, is based on fact. You will see movie clips of marching Scottish bands in Uganda in the following great site . There is a timeline that gives you the historical timeline of Idi Amin and Uganda, with original footage and photos interspersed with some movie clips and photos.
Forest Whitaker, of course, won the best actor Academy Award and a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Idi Amin in the film.

I read : The last King of Scotland and then I see the black man in uniform ! I doubt that it was him, lol ! I can't comment movies, because I don't go very often and mostly rent videos or watch crime stories on TV.
BTW do you know the end of Prison break ?? Here in Belgium we are only at season one and I am already getting bored because he is still in prison and it seems to me like an endless elastic string and the story pulled and pulled in length ! If in the second season he still sits in prison and maybe in the next 20 years too, then I would give up now watching !
The guy reminds me of cat Arthur, he diggs all the time too and will never come to an end.
I haven't seen this yet, but it's on my list for sure. I still need to see Dream Girls! Hee hee!
I really do want to see this movie, Forrest Whitaker is amazing, but Idi Amin was such a horrid, horrid man...
