Sunday Only Speak - First Sunday of Advent

Today is the First Sunday of Advent. It is the beginning of the Christian Church's liturgical year and the time for which we prepare for the celebration marking the first coming of Christ. It is a season filled with hope, longing, anticipation and peace. The word Advent means 'coming' or 'arrival'.

We light the first candle of the Advent wreath. The first candle is meant to symbolize our expectations and hope at this time. The colour of Advent is purple, a colour of penitence and one of royalty, to welcome our King.

What are you doing to prepare your heart for Advent?

Oh you are doing this too ! Since I can think we always had an Advent wreath with four candles and the first sunday (as today) one candle were lit and usually in the afternoon we had christmas cookies and a slice of "Stollen" (the german Christmas cake, it's on my blog today) with christmas music. When our son were a toddler we had a bell which played christmas songs and that he loved !
Each sunday, as you do it too we light another candle until all four are on and then it means it's Christmas !
I am quite sure that in Europe only Germany celebrates that way, I have never seen a Advent wreath in another country.
Don't forget your kitties on Tuesday I hope for you nobody peed in a strange place ! And you know it's true that people call me Mme Chat over here, which means Mrs. Cat. Even in Art School everybody knew me under this name !

Thanks for the tip to turn comments off ! I had already lunch ! It's 2 pm here. Of course you can steel everything on my blog, no problem I even don't know where I found it, probably I stole it somewhere too ! I don't understand why people get angry if you copy one of their gifs, they didn't do it themselves they mostly took it from My Space that's what I did sometimes too.

We've never done this. It's interesting to read about though. Makes Christmas more about Christ than the other commercial crap..

Tell me, did you have Advent Calendars as a child? I did. Hubby insists no, but he came from a strange family. We bought one for Emily and she is enjoying the candy each day.
