THE OFFICE - "The Convention"

Ah Thursday nights! I wake up happy on Thursday's because I know I'll get to watch my favourite show THE OFFICE at night.

It's a comedy done in a docu-drama style with deep character profiles. I only started watching it during the summer reruns. It didn't take long to get hooked. You can click on the picture above and view clips from nbc.

This week, Michael and Dwight, the Regional Manager and Assistant Regional Manager (or ARM as Dwight says) of the Dundler-Mifflin paper company head to a convention in Philadelphia along with other associates from the other regional offices.

Michael is up to his usual antics - insulting people unknowingly, reading too much into things, trying to impress others all.the.time. Dwight, aka idolizer of Michael, caters to him and follows him around like a fruit fly in summer.

Michael feels slighted because Jim took a transfer to another branch because he didn't want his hurtin' heart to be around the office admin, Pam, whom he "put it on the line for" and came up empty handed (for now, hehe). Michael sees Jim's interaction with his new boss at the convention and feels envious and sad because he thinks Jim likes his new boss more.

My favourite scenes of this episode:

  • Dwight and Angela in the lunch room talking to each other across the room with their backs to each other
  • When Michael was telling Jan that there would be nothing going on between them because he now had a gf
  • When Michael and Dwight were dancing in the hotel room on the afternoon before the party.
  • Michael trying to impress his boss and associates by giving the catering busboy a $100 bill as a tip for cleaning the table.

Favourite character of this episode - Jim - not sure why, maybe it's his various facial expressions. Of course Michael is hilarious in every episode.

What was your favourite scene, line or character?

I watched! I am so proud of myself for sitting still for 30 minutes. I did check the blog during the commercials.

The strobe light was over the top funny.
