Stuff Portrait Fridays - I made it this week!

Our SPF assignment this week is to "reach in and dig around." That won't be too hard given the crappy mood I've been in lately but be warned about what might come out!

I haven't taken any pictures this week and my camera batteries are now charging so here goes from my photo collection. Kristine told us to dig deep! SHEEEEESHHH!

Something I have outgrown...

The good news is that I don't have any digital pictures with me in clothes that don't fit me any more.

Well I must confess that I did find a pic of me in shorts which are a little on the tight side but I do still wear them.

So that means that my size hasn't changed drastically (meaning increased) in the last 3 years.

This is a good thing.

So in the spirit of digging deep, I realized that one thing I have outgrown is my desire to have more children. I know I'm getting too old now for that anyways, but around the year 2000 I knew some 'older' women who were about my age and having kids and I was a tad bit jealous.

How did I get over it you ask?

I got a baby. A new furry baby. He was 12 weeks old when we got him and he cured me of my baby mothering instinct need. It's great having a furry baby.

He doesn't talk back, doesn't ask to borrow the car (but loves to go on car rides), goes to bed when I tell him to and he's mentally got the intelligence and vocabulary of a two year old....

....But not the negative terrible two's syndrome associated with that age! (Well okay he has been doing a bit of digging in the back yard this week but we won't go there, now.)

Fergus is a brown STANDARD poodle (the big ones). He was milk chocolate brown as a puppy but now he is kinda mocha coloured with the grey mixed in with his brown.

Standard Poodles are not yappy and are very smart but can be quite dominant in personality if they are male. In this regard, they require assertive handling.

Now, I want to share a funny pic with you. This is a picture of 'his' miniature twin brother that I met over in Ireland.

Cute ay? He was the spitting image of Fergus except smaller so I had to take his picture. He had the same haircut too.

I can't remember his name now but here he is with his Mom. BTW you don't see too many Standard Poodles in Ireland, at least I didn't.

Something I have overcome...

I have overcome the loss of my aunt whom I was very close too.
She died in 1999 and was a great influence in my life.

She arrived in Canada as an immigrant, sponsored by my parents, when I was only 2 days old. My Dad picked her up at the airport in Montreal and they went straight to the hospital to see me and my Mum.

It was her that I traveled to Ireland with first when I was 5, and again when I was 19. She never married or had children but was a second Mom to me and my sisters.

She made my wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses. She was a police officer and retired as a Sergeant about 5 years before she died at the age of 64. Here I am about 3 years old with her.
I have so many wonderful memories.

Something I need help with ...

My Mum
March 18, 1932 - June 26, 2005

Laid to rest with Auntie Kay.

I'm not over her yet.

Mum missed her sister so much.

I miss them both.

Did you play?

I'm glad you played. Very special SPF! I can relate to your grieving for your mother as well as aunt; my grief over losing Steve has waxed and waned over the last 11 years. Big (((((hugs))))) to you!

I played.

Fergus is one cutie pie. A good "kid" too! No terrible teens. ;-)

I love the photo of you and your aunt! And of course the last one of you Mum is wonderful. Her spirit shines through, just as yours does. ::Hugs::

Sounds like she really was something. I'm glad you had her.
