Thursday Thirteen #85, my #35

Thirteen Things

  1. OK so if you read my blog regularly you probably know that this last week has been all about the Cyber Cruise that we're on. So I just thought that if you were getting sick of reading about it I would sadly disappoint you now because I'm still gonna blog about it today!!!

  2. It has been really fun! Much more than I had expected! So if you're an outsider looking in, get on board. We're all about goofing around and saying silly things and being a little horny or raunchy but all in the name of good clean fun! So before we continue with CC~TT, please complete the CC poll:

  3. I'm getting a lot of laughs on this cruise, especially from mon Capitaine Lifecruiser. She is a riot! Of course without mentioning other names for fear of forgetting anyone I will say that (cough) the hat lady gives us all a run for our money, not to mention the (cough, cough) shoe lady, then there's the viking twins (hoo hoo & ha ha), and spanish esmarelda and maridoggybeth. Ohh, ohhh and I didn't forget you, cattinoyergats! You guys show great spirit in the most senseless manner, and I mean that in a very endearing way!

  4. I'm really seeing and learning about some really awesome cities and interesting facts and tidbits about these places, right from the horses mouth!

  5. The food and drink in port is awesome too! And since it's virtual, no calories! (We're not counting the beer I had when I was reading the blogs the other night are we???)

  6. So when I did my first port posting (Tuesday), the preview of the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie was not working but I think it is now. It looks like another fine one to wrap up the tale. Aye, mateys.

  7. Ah yes and we all had entirely too much fun talking like pirates that day. I can't wait until September 19 which is TAPD (Talk Like A Pirate Day). I am going to really get into it this year! Aye ye scalliwags and sea dogs, of that ye can be sure!

  8. I wish I could learn to make these cute buttons like this cute little Berliner Bear that Sanni made for us. Isn't she special? I'm calling him Irving even though I'm not sure if he is a boy or a girl. I survived eating the currywurst in Berlin and it was yum!
  9. The neat thing about visiting with all the bloggers from different parts of the world is that it reminds me of how much we are all the same. Separated by miles, water and moulah only, but joined by the spirit of adventure, fun, and heartfelt kindness. That we are!
  10. Ya so because I still have to swab the poop deck during the day (aka pillage for gold Arrrrr!), and then I go to visit the Cyber Cruisers first at night I am a little behind on my bloglines and I apologize wholeheartedly for that. I have not forgotten you all non cruisers and will be back to catch up! On that you can be certain!
  11. I've only got three more things to say on this topic (yay, lucky me!): Today our Cyber Cruise Port is: Alaska, USA ~ Hostess: Maribeth, The Dackel Princess and Tomorrow is: Ottawa, Canada ~ Hostess: Irish Church Lady, Sláinte ~ It’s only Me (hey, that's me!)
  12. Past Ports: Stockholm, Sweden, , Oslo, Norway ~ Viking A, Viking B, Waterloo, Belgium , Barcelona, Spain, Tartuga Cove, Pirate's Harbour, Berlin, Germany
  13. Why don't you hop aboard at next port? Read more about Lifecruiser cyber cruise and Cruiser Grades and The Cyber Cruise Scheduled ports

Weee!!! Was it as fun fer ye as it was fer me?! LMAO

Seven Songs

Tug has tagged me. Isn't she purdy?

List seven songs you are into right now...no matter what they are....BUT.... They must be songs you are presently enjoying. Then tag seven other people to see what they’re listening to.

Well let's see this is easy. I just have to flip over to my handy dandy Irish and Loving It Video Blog and rhyme 'em off:

  1. Where the Streets have no Name - U2 (this is a funny coincidence because I posted this video up Friday a.m. and then on Friday at work we had a band come in for St. Patrick's Day at lunch hour and this is the last song that the played ~ after many Irish tunes of course.)
  2. Jennifer Hudson ~ And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going ~ from Dreamgirls
  3. Listen ~ Beyonce (from Dreamgirls)
  4. Fergalicious ~ Fergie
  5. Hey Mama ~ Black Eyed Peas
  6. The Town I Loved So Well - Paddy Reilly
  7. Not Ready to Make Nice ~ Dixie Chicks

I tag 7 people who's first name's begin with the first letter of eac'h item in the above list.

That is W, J, L, F, H, T, N

That's right peoples. Don't let me down and don't make me come lookin' for ya. If you've never spoken up b4, now would be a good time.

We are having a wild and rauchous grand time aboard Lifecruiser's Cyber Cruise boat!

We started in Stockholm, Sweden from Mrs LC's port and then went to Oslo, Norway where RennyBA and TorAa were our taunting and teasing gracious hosts! You must go see their joint video, prepared last night! True Vikings trying to share the love!! Today is Waterloo, Belgium where we will be delighted so see what Gattina has up the sleeve of her Egyptian dress! (She was just reminiscing ~ you'll have to read her post to understand). On Monday we go with Mar to Barcelona, Spain.

Yours truly is hosting it on March 20th at a surprise destination port! Mysteries abound!

Melli is up to her usual hilarious tricks. Maribeth and Sanni and lots of others are up to various antics in the comments! You've gotta read them. And if you visit, please tell us you dropped in on that port! The more the better group sex we'll have the merrier!

Here is the link to the schedule so you can see where we're headed after that!

Happy St. Patricks Day!

IRELAND FOREVER

I grew up listening to the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem on account of me Irish mother and her bounty of their albums! Plus we grew up in these sweaters, also pictured below!

One of my favourites follows, to put you in the spirit of St. Patrick's Day!

Now what would St. Patrick's Day be without a pint of that frothy Guinness beer?

Did you know that Guinness is actually healthy for you and less calories than other beers?

That's why they came up with the slogan "Guiness is Good for You".

Sláinte

(to your health)

I will be havin' a pint or two tonight meself when we head over to our church for an Irish Ceili with Irish Stew, Irish Dancers, music and dancing.
This will be my first one that I've attended since me Mum died.
Tomorrow would have been her 75th birthday!

The utterly impractical, never predictable,
Sometimes irascible, quite inexplicable, Irish.

Strange blend of shyness,
pride and conceit,
And stubborn refusal to bow in defeat.
He's spoiling and ready to argue and fight,
Yet the smile of a child
fills his soul with delight.
His eyes are the quickest to well up with tears,
Yet his strength is the strongest
to banish your fears.
His hate is as fierce as his devotion is grand,
And there is no middle ground
on which he will stand.
He's wild and he's gentle,
he's good and he's bad.
He's proud and he's humble,
he's happy and sad.
He's in love with the ocean,
the earth and the skies,
He's enamoured with beauty wherever it lies.
He's victor and victim, a star and a clod,
But mostly he's Irish—
in love with his God.

And a very Happy St. Patricks Day to all me fine Internets!

Make Visual Poetry - ImageChef.com

I leave you all wit'

An Old Irish Blessing
May love and laughter light your days,

and warm your heart and home.

May good and faithful friends be yours,

wherever you may roam.

May peace and plenty bless your world with joy that long endures.

May all life's passing seasons bring the best to you and yours!

Officially Speaking

New Video posted at ICL Videos
Just created a whole post and lost it!
The word verification was not working.
Arrrgh!
Bottom line: Tonight's Office was a repeat.

~Highlights~

Oscar comes back from 'gaycation'

Dwight resigned from Dunder-Mifflin is working at Staples.

Andy was bugging the hell out of Michael and Jim and Pam.

Michael says (about Andy): I can't understand how someone can be so out of touch with his outer self. (or something like that ~ now isn't that the pot calling the kettle black!)

Jim and Pam retaliate by hiding his cell phone in the ceiling.
Andy gets so mad and punches a wall.

Dwight is hired back, but refuses to handle Michaels dry cleaning any longer.

Andy Bernard is gone to Anger Management classes for 10 weeks as requested by Corporate.
Both of these are pretty funny. Andy at his best.

Seven Drunken Nights

Thursday Thirteen is at ICL is at Home this week.

This song originally heralds from The Dubliners.

The last couple of verses are not normally sung because they are so crude so I've given you the words below.

As I went home on Monday night as drunk as drunk could be
I saw a horse outside the door where my old horse should be
Well, I called me wife and I said to her: Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns that horse outside the door where my old horse should be?

Ah, you're drunk,
you're drunk you silly old fool,
still you can not see
That's a lovely sow that me mother sent to me
Well, it's many a day I've travelled a hundred miles or more
But a saddle on a sow sure I never saw before

And as I went home on Tuesday night as drunk as drunk could be
I saw a coat behind the door where my old coat should be
Well, I called me wife and I said to her: Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns that coat behind the door where my old coat should be

Ah, you're drunk,
you're drunk you silly old fool,
still you can not see
That's a woollen blanket that me mother sent to me
Well, it's many a day I've travelled a hundred miles or more
But buttons in a blanket sure I never saw before

And as I went home on Wednesday night as drunk as drunk could be
I saw a pipe up on the chair where my old pipe should be
Well, I called me wife and I said to her: Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns that pipe up on the chair where my old pipe should be

Ah, you're drunk,
you're drunk you silly old fool,
still you can not see
That's a lovely tin whistle that me mother sent to me
Well, it's many a day I've travelled a hundred miles or more
But tobacco in a tin whistle sure I never saw before

And as I went home on Thursday night as drunk as drunk could be
I saw two boots beneath the bed where my old boots should be
Well, I called me wife and I said to her: Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns them boots beneath the bed where my old boots should be

Ah, you're drunk,
you're drunk you silly old fool,
still you can not see
They're two lovely Geranium pots me mother sent to me
Well, it's many a day I've travelled a hundred miles or more
But laces in Geranium pots I never saw before

And as I went home on Friday night as drunk as drunk could be
I saw a head upon the bed where my old head should be
Well, I called me wife and I said to her: Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns that head upon the bed where my old head should be

Ah, you're drunk,
you're drunk you silly old fool,
still you can not see
That's a baby boy that me mother sent to me
Well, it's many a day I've travelled a hundred miles or more
But a baby boy with his whiskers on sure I never saw before

And as I went home on Saturday night as drunk as drunk could be
I saw two hands upon her breasts where my old hands should be
Well, I called me wife and I said to her: Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns them hands upon your breasts where my old hands should be

Ah, you're drunk,
you're drunk you silly old fool,
still you can not see
That's a lovely night gown that me mother sent to me
Well, it's many a day I've travelled a hundred miles or more
But fingers in a night gown sure I never saw before

As I went home on Sunday night as drunk as drunk could be
I saw a thing in her thing where my old thing should be
Well, I called me wife and I said to her: Will you kindly tell to me
Who owns that thing in your thing where my old thing should be

Ah, you're drunk,
you're drunk you silly old fool,
still you can not see
That's a lovely tin whistle that me mother sent to me
Well, it's many a day I've travelled a hundred miles or more
But hair on a tin whistle sure I never saw before

Karma's a bitch

Ahh ha ha ... I spoke too soon .... rubbing in my good fortune by bragging about my performance review.

My blog review at So Many Blogs, So Little Time .... ah, numberwise, ain't so hot at 40%ish.

However, she loved the blog header (Thanks all go to Goofy Girl!). Hated the sidebar, but then they usually do in these reviews unless the sidebar is so short it's almost empty. I don't love my sidebar but I love the blog grouping headers. They're funny in my head. And ya, I don't read 'em all anymore, but I did read all of them at some time or another. It is time to thin the herd, though, I acknowledge.

Content - she wants more personal writing. As my regular readers know, I do that here some days but also on ICL Talks and maybe a little bit sprinkled in the memes on About ICL.

I guess one of the reasons I like to vary it up here is because I get bored of reading the blogs that are just personal blogs and always about that person or their kids yada yada yada. Just my preference, so if I don't like that as much, I'm certainly not going to turn around and blog that way. Having said that, I haven't had that many personal posts lately because (a) it's a little too painful and (b) what I have said is on ICL Talks.

Tell me ~ how do you feel? What are your preferences? Not that I necessarily will change anything drastically, because, as they say, this blog is for me... but I am curious to know other bloggers opinions. Aren't I always? Monkey survey queen speaking here.

I think the best thing I got out of the review is that Sexy Simone said "You have a good writing style, try using it for good :)". That is really what I wanted to hear. I enjoy writing and I like my writing style. It's just nice to hear when others appreciate it too!

Dead People Not Allowed to Enter Here

Pam found me some great information on the castle in my last post. It's called Lemenagh Castle (albeit there's a number of different spellings for Leimaneh) and is located in County Clare near the town of Kilfenora. Here's another picture and a funny story to go with it. Well at least I think it's funny and typically Irish!

The castle was owned by the O'Brien clan and saw varied usage and owners. At one
point it was owned by Conor O’Brien who was married to Maura Rua or Red Mary. He returned from battle in a state of extreme disrepair, she refuse him admittance
on the grounds that he was dead. Disproving this assumption, he was allowed in and subsequently died shortly thereafter. Red Mary remarried to improve her position, but all was for naught as thing rapidly fell apart leaving the castle in the current state of decomposition.

The Town I Loved So Well

Saturday Photo Hunt ~ Architecture is here at ICL is at Home.
I had fun with this one this week!

One week to St. Patrick's Day!

Ha ha ha, I guess the photo above coulda been used for SPH ~ Architecture too!

Anywees, Trish, Pam and someone else I saw but can't remember who are gettin' me into the spirit leading up to St. Patrick's Day.

Now I must tell you why the days around St. Pat's mean so much to me.

March 18 is me Mum's birthday

March 17 - St. Patrick's Day, a course

March 16 - me youngest sister's birthday

March 15 - the day my Auntie passed away

So now to share with you one of me favourite Irish songs. Kind of sad but very poignant. This version is performed by Paddy Reilly of The Dubliners. It was actually written by Phil Coulter and he does a good performance also. It's also been performed by Luke Kelly and Ronnie Drew but I like Paddy's version best. See excerpts of the above performers here.

The Town I Loved So Well (incl lyrics)

Just for Pam ~ the picture at the top is of the same castle that you have on your blog. Another shot from a different angle here.
