Sept 8th, 2006
You've shown me your homes, your cars, your front doors, almost everything IN your house, your favorite things and the stuff that annoys you. Now you're going to show me your world.

My world is driving kids to and from school all day, but you've seen pictures of my kids and you know what a mini-van looks like right? This is a 'thinking' SPF. Yes, no kids, no dogs, no cats.
1. Your Freedom
2. Your Hope
3. Your Wish
Keep in mind, it's 'Your World'. "
OK I'm late. Hope my it's not a too lame a$$ SPF:
Welcome to my world that is not kids, dogs and cats!
My Freedom:

My home. I love it. My freedom will come when it's paid for. A number of years yet which isn't easy with 4 kids but I will feel a big burden lifted when finances don't feel so tight.

My Hope:

My hope was that there was one of these Rickard's Red's left in the fridge.

(There was which I am enjoying now while doing me SPF!)

My Wish:

Gifts from me MIL in our 17 year anniversary card.

(Ya I wish and hope we win ~ that'll be freedom!)

(O and the Rickard's Red is gone and it was gooooooood!)

I'm working from home today. I'm taking a blog break. What I mean is, I'm taking a break by doing this blog entry.

My office is filled with Happy Faces. I miss them today. But I love working from home more!

I even have a Jesus bumper sticker on my wall. That's why I'm called the Irish Church Lady.

Can you see me little Irish sheep on the shelf above?

Greetings, Pherrets! It's hard to believe that it's hump day already.

Time to get ferreting!

The answer, my friend, is blowing in this week's word:

Wind

Coumeenole in County Kerry, Southwest coast of Ireland

It was a windy rainy day but there were a few surfers out making the most of it!

Used in films "Ryan's Daughter" & "Far and Away"

SKOOL DAZE

Had a nice Labour Day weekend. Weather was the pits here but we needed the rain anyways.

Back atcha! Hope ya'll did too!

So now it's the most wonderful time of the year (LOL) like the STAPLES commercial says!

Sing it with me! It's the most wonderful time of the year. ... there'll be knapsacks a blazing and pencils erasing now that school time is here. It's the most wonderful time, of the year.

Ya ok so I don't know all the words and I just made up stuff that rhymed. Stab me! With a pencil dammit. Get that stingray away from me. oops wrong blog...

Back-to-school for us here now.

I think I'm more excited for bak2skool because it's less work for me now than when the kids were younger. I just have one in high school and one in university. My son is in college but lives away in the city of the college he is attending.

I'm looking forward to the fresh start. Batgirl is in Grade 11. Second last year. You guys call that a JUNIOR year in the States. I could never understand that Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior stuff until I got someone to tell me the order of them and I memorized it.

It always seems out of order for me. I would think Junior sb (oops that short form for should be ~ I do that in emails too) the second one after Freshman. Hey and when are they going to change it to Freshperson BTW????! Sophomore sounds so sophisticated. How could it just be the second year?

To me Sophomore should be last. Ya, that's how I think it should go...Freshperson, Junior, Senior, Sophomore. Are you with me? Shall we enact a new law? Let's picket!

All those in favour, go to the left side of the room. All those against go to the right.

Hey, why am I here all alone?

I'm not stoopid. Just because I spell my labours and favours and savours and colours and humours and rumours with a 'u' does not mean I am not an intelligent human being.

I am Canadian, my kidlets are back in school and I am proud of it.

Manic Monday - LABOUR DAY

In honor of Labor Day here in the U.S., [and LABOUR Day in Canada ;) click on the word to find out why we spell it that way :0] here are today's questions....

Do you have any Labor Day weekend traditions?
No just the usual getting ready for back to school and savouring the last days of summer!

What was your first official (tax-paying) job?
I worked at a bakery part-time when I was fourteen but I got all my taxes back. So I guess it would have to be when I worked in Accounting for a summer job at Sears and then also other companies as a Co-op student. I started working full time in the Corporate Finance department of the last company I Co-oped with from university.

What profession do you think is under-appreciated?
I would like to say Nursing and Teaching because I know I could never do those jobs. My hubs would disagree totally and he does have a point, especially about teachers because they get the summer off [teachers put away your tomatoes! hee :)].

So I think it is any non-union and / or management job where you don't get paid overtime but it is expected that you work it because you're salary. Basically you end up working 50 hours a week just to keep up on the demands and deliverables, especially if you take any pride in your work.

Managing people is tough. Being a director is easier because you get staff members who are managers and therefore are a little more motivated and easier to manage. Managing non-managers is harder. You get a lot of wining to deal with. Managing directors must be a breeze. LMAO. I wouldn't know.

Do you have a dream job? If so, what would it be?
My only dream job would be something more glamourous and in a different field. I have always wanted to be a police officer. I think I would be good at detective work. I am also a fairly physical person (excluding housework LOL - but when I get going get out of my way ha ha).

I also think being an airline pilot and travelling a lot of different places would be so kool!

Basically what I have learned about myself is that I hate routine. I love change, I love trying new things. I hate when a job becomes monotonous or repetitive. That's basically why I got out of Finance (hated the month end close routine) and into IT and Project Management.

Problem solving and trouble shooting are a real challenge for me and I enjoy that. I just don't like the chasing of people (what I call wiping snotty noses and bums) part of PM. We're all professionals here. Do your job!

If you've given birth, was your labor more or less difficult than you expected? (If you haven't given birth, how do you think you'd do?)

My labour was the pits. My pregnancy was great. My child birth and four months afterwards was yucchy and a blur. Thanks, Lisa, you've just given me an idea for blogging about!

Basically it was because I had an emergency C-section and it all went downhill from there. You'll have to keep reading my blog to find out the rest of the story. I'll do it on a TT or MM (Monday Memories - not Manic Monday) - sometime soon. All pregnant ladies and those that haven't had their babies yet will be excused from reading.

Good MM Lisa, and here is her Manic Monday Meme site. Let her know if you play, 'kay. BTW you don't have to play every week. It's not one of those blogrolled memes. At least not yet, right Lis?! ;)

Holy Crocomole!

AFP/Getty Images/File - Mon Sep 4, 12:23 PM ET

Steve Irwin, the famous Crocodile Hunter has been killed by a stingray off the northeast coast of Australia.

He was filming a documentary in the Great Barrier Reef near Queensland.

The stingray used it's toxic barb like a bayonet on a rifle and punctured the left side of his chest, killing him very quickly.

Irwin was married to US-born Terri Irwin and the couple had two children aged eight and three.

Reuters - Mon Sep 4, 11:32 AM ET

He was chastized in 2004 when he held his infant son while feeding a large crocodile during a show at his Australia Zoo reptile park. Irwin defended his antics at the time, even after considerable outrage.
AP - Mon Sep 4, 8:18 AM ET

He always seemed to take incredible risks, however, but I thought it was just played up for the show. In reality, it now appears that the things he did were as stupid as they appeared. It makes me think that it could be his son in the news, snatched by the jaws of the crocodile, instead of him, stabbed by a stingray.

Reuters - Mon Sep 4, 11:32 AM ET

But crikey, he sure made khaki a fashion statement.

A room for the night and a coat

Once a friend and I were coming back from night class and saw a young girl walking on the side of a dark highway. We asked if she wanted a lift and she said yes. She said she was running away from home.

She was about 16 years old. I was only about 25 myself and the other lady I was with was in her forties. She was a single mom, struggling to make ends meet, I was a young single woman and here we had this young girl and weren't quite sure what to do.

She was distressed and cold because she only had on light clothing and it was in the fall. It was evident that she needed some time alone to sort things out.

I didn't want to take her back to my home in the interest of my own safety and not knowing the particulars of her situation.

I gave my coat to her and I took her to the local motel and paid for a room for the night.

My friend was my strength and guide on what we could do, she had no means to be able to pay for the motel, but I did, and so it was a joint effort that we got her set up for the night.

We both worked for the same company and the next morning we discussed going to see her at the motel. We went at lunch and she was gone.

I often wonder what happened to that young girl and to my friend who helped as well. It was when I lived in another town and we have since lost touch, but I think of her from time to time. Her name was Rosemary.

Thanks to Angela at Bein' Berean for stirring up the memory.

I don't usually play Monday Memories and not sure if I want to join the blogroll to commit to another Meme, but who knows. I'll play alongside whenever I can.

Toodles~

As we gain experience and confidence and exposure to new tools, we bloggers are known to change tools and templates from time to time.

I myself have changed tools once and templates once. (Well twice actually but I don't count the one when I went from MyMSNSpace to Blogger.

Saturday Photo Hunt

This weeks theme is On the Road Again
I hate this road and this drive. It's a 6 hour two lane highway drive to visit my in-laws. There are passing lanes every so often, but it's a very dangerous road.
DQ Girl is coming back from there today. She went up with DQ Boy to visit Grandma & Grandpa! First trip. Course there's no snow now!

Photo Theme. Join the blogroll. Grab the Scavenger Hunt code.

~If you play and visit, don't forget to tell TNChick which ones are your favourites~

OK I couldn't pick just one!

Here's a Dachsie on the road again. She doesn't look all that unhappy, dontcha think?

Happy LABOUR * Day weekend to all those who have one!!

* That's the 'Canuk' spelling. Most of our "or" words are "our". i.e. colour, humour, rumour, tumour. Did you know that?????

Stuff Portrait Fridays!

want us to post pictures of the following for
Sept 1st, 2006
SPF:1. Show your Support (everyone supports something right?)2. Show me your sacrifice (everyone makes them right?)3. Something red.

OK this isn't my church but it is a church, symbolic of what I support ~ my faith.

I lose too many days to busy-ness (busi-ness).

That's my sacrifice.

My fun, my emotional well being, gone with the sun, gone to bed, to wait for another day.

A little green from the Church Lady to go with your Red!

News Flash!

There are 114 shopping days until Christmas.

Happy SPF!
