Bellezza tagged me for this meme.
I thought I had done it before but it was actually 5 weird things about me. This six promises to be completely different. I've slept since then.
1. I used to love Saturday Night Live in the mid 80's when Billy Crystal, Jon Lovitz, Martin
Short and Christopher Guest were regulars on that show. Some of my favourite skits were the
You Know What I Hate? Willie (Christopher Guest) and Frankie (Billy Crystal) discuss means of self-torture, Fin-de-Siecle Prison Homosexuality (Guest & Lovitz) - omg this one was so funny but I can't find a transcript, Fernando's Hideaway (Billy Crystal), Jackie Rogers Jr.'s $100,000 Jackpot Wad (Short), Ed Grimley (Short) . There was one particular episode that Eddie Murphy came back to guest host which was so funny - it had Mr Robinsons Neighbourhood (Murphy), Black History Minute (Murphy), White Like Eddie (Murphy). I
used
to have the best of SNL for one year on Betamax tape. I loved each one of the skits on the tape. I would love to have the exact tape on DVD now. For now I just have to reread the transcripts above to get a laugh but I would love to be able to share some of these skits on film with you. Lou Grant Rescue Mission was funny too.
2. I hate if I'm late for a movie and miss seeing the movie trailers from the beginning.
3. I was in a couple of car accidents last year when I was traveling out of town. One was my fault and one was not. Consequently I have become a bit of a nervous backseat driver. It drives my hubby nuts because I feel he drives too close and I'm often raising my hands to the dashboard and bracing my feet as if I'm putting on the brakes. We've come up with a compromise. If I'm getting nervous because of his driving, I say the words "I'm anxious" and then close my eyes and leave it up to him to alter his driving if he feels necessary or not. I guess you could call it the couples version of "Jesus, Take the Wheel!".
4. I really haven't done anything for Christmas yet. I bought a few small items but that is all. Some of the decorations are up (thanks to my daughter and hubby for the outside). I'm not into Christmas at all this year, even less than last year, which is kind of unexpected, as I would have thought last year would have been harder for me as it was the first Christmas without Mum. I hope the spirit comes soon.
5. I'm a perfectionist in some things but I also rush through things. Take my posts, I really hate it when I find a typo or missing word in them if I reread them over later after I have posted it. The problem is that I don't take the time to proof it before I post. I'm giving you internets all free license to say "You're a dork" whenever you see a typo in my post. Please, please, please point it out. I want to see how often this occurs without me realizing it and then maybe it will make me take more care to proof my work.
6. I used to have a mild fascination with snakes. As a kid I adopted a wild garter snake from our cottage, brought it home and took it to school to show my class. It was funny because my aunt was really afraid of it and on the way home from the cottage, her boyfriend would tease her by using his belt to pretend it was the snake and tell her that the snake had got out of the box in the car. She freaked. I think I let it go after a couple of days. In my teens, I held a huge boa constrictor at some wildlife park in Florida. My Mum freaked. I think that my fascination of snakes came from me wanting to prove I was brave. I'm not fussy about them now. I'm not afraid of them but I don't like them like I used too. Prolly doesn't help that my husband hates snakes. I have not seen Snakes on a Plane, nor have no desire to, but check out Snakes on a Blog, it's cute.
Nothing too racy like last time.
I'm not gonna tag anyone but welcome anyone to pick this up if they feel so inclined.

Sunday Only Speak
Today is the second Sunday of Advent
I read this on a blog a few weeks ago. I wish I could remember whose blog I saw it on so I could give them credit for the find.
This sums up my feelings on my faith, perfectly.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin'."
I'm whispering "I was lost,
Now I'm found and forgiven."
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need Christ to be my guide.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
And need His strength to carry on.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
And need God to clean my mess.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
But, God believes I am worth it.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain.
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
Who received God's good grace, somehow!

CATs on Tuesdays ~ Tuesday Tubesday
The Story:Water cat is a long haired ginger tabby. He is 7 years old and is called Winston but is also affectionately called: Winnie, Wins, WinniePoo, Fatso, Chubba-wubba, Chubba-tub. He is the one in the above pics who has some white in him. It's hard to tell from the above shots but he is huge. He weighs about 20 - 22 lbs.
Anyways he loves to go in the bathtub and watch the water drip from the tap. Sometimes I go into the bathroom and don't even realize he is in there until I hear a "Meow" coming from the tub. That means I'm in here and please can you turn on the water for me. You can't turn it on full force of course, just so it drip drips into the tub. He does not mind getting a bit wet. He will play with and drink the pools of water for a good 20 minutes before he finally gets bored (or tired) and goes for his nap. So in case you missed it the first time, here is an encore presentation of Water Cat in Splish Splash, starring his siblings in supporting roles, of course.

Manic Monday ~ Let's Get Physical
What's the biggest physical risk you've ever taken?
Skiing down a double black diamond trail in my first year of skiing..... accidentally.
When was the last time you were out of breath?
Saturday, when I saw Daniel Craig in Casino Royale
When was the fittest you've ever been?
In my early twenties, ahem!

Sunday Only Speak - First Sunday of Advent
Today is the First Sunday of Advent. It is the beginning of the Christian Church's liturgical year and the time for which we prepare for the celebration marking the first coming of Christ. It is a season filled with hope, longing, anticipation and peace. The word Advent means 'coming' or 'arrival'.
We light the first candle of the Advent wreath. The first candle is meant to symbolize our expectations and hope at this time. The colour of Advent is purple, a colour of penitence and one of royalty, to welcome our King.
What are you doing to prepare your heart for Advent?

Most embarrassing things that happened to me
In random order, here is a list of the most embarrassing things that have happened to me that I have not blocked out of my subconciousness. Some of them I blogged about before so I've embedded the link if you want to read more. Are you ready?
1. Grade 7 got my boobies felt 'accidentally' by a boy
2. Walked down the length of the manufacturing floor with my skirt tucked up in my pantihose.
3. THE time I ruined a brand new bathtub at my relatives in Ireland.
4. Driving Challenge #1 - the speaker at the drive in was in the wrong place
5. Driving Challenge #2 - backwards on the Queensway
6. Fell off my bike and did a flip
7. Got propositioned in Mexico ..... by another couple for a foursome!!!!
8. Was bragging to my friends (I was in my twenties) about my weight training and said to a guy as I held up my arm in a Popeye fashion "Feel my pecs". (Right intentions, wrong muscle group!!)
9. Pool Boy and I had the one and only weekend alone at home, in our life, one summer. Kids were away at camps, cottages, friends etc. He and I were relaxing in the pool laying on a double air mattress and I was doing a little innocent topless sunbathing when and out of town relative dropped in unexpectedly and walked through the backyard gate. Not one of my 'favourite' relatives that I would appreciate a drop in from. Actually he's very rough and rude and kind of a pig. Needless to say, when he saw me topless and I quickly hid behind the air mattress, he did not let on, but kept talking away and wouldn't let me get out of the pool to cover up. Finally I was frozen and had to make a dash.
10. Once in my teens my boyfriend gave me a small bottle of Binaca breath drops. Ouch!
11. I was in a new relationship and the first night that we spend together I ended up farting all night. Just as I was falling asleep, one would creep out and wake me up. Consequently, I didn't sleep much all night trying to control my farts but not being very successful at it!
12. At the supper table someone said something really funny just as I had taken a gulp of milk and I laughed and milk came out my nose. OK that's not really so much embarrassing as incredibly funny on it's own! It would be embarrassing if I weren't at a regular family dinner.
13. Started writing a blog and published all my intimate secrets for anyone to see because I'm such a blabber.
And you? What can you top on my list?
